Years of Wisdom
Every 6 months or so I get a throbbing pain in my jaw for about a week. This is that week.

It makes it very difficult to eat, talk, and basically move my jaw much at all. Fortunately I know what the problem is, unfortunately I’m well aware that it’s my wisdom teeth.
I haven’t gotten them removed yet for a few reasons:
- Last time I was at the dentist, he said that they weren’t impacted so I didn’t really need to get them out unless they were bothering me. And to be fair, they really don’t bother me all that much, just for a week every 6 months or so
- I have since avoided the dentist as to not get a contradictory opinion on the matter
- There are very few things I hate more than missing work due to an illness. When I left my last job, I think I had around 180 hrs of unused sick time, and here at USC I’ve maxed out my sick days at 12. I just don’t like taking sick days, it’s not like I work construction, if I have a laptop and can sit up under my own power, there’s a good chance I can work through it.
Spending the last 3 or 4 days popping ibuprofen, barely talking, and icing the right side of my head (frozen water, not covering my head in cake frosting) has made me think that I might very well need to get, at least 1 or 2 of these teeth removed.
At least I’ll be a few ounces lighter afterwards.
If I do decide to get them out I plan to blog about it shortly after, depending on the medication they give me, I think it could be a pretty entertaining post. So look forward to that.
Also, I finally got a haircut yesterday, that’s the picture at the top.

My experience was that it was super no big deal and I was back to 100% normal almost the same day. Your mileage may vary.
I’m not looking forward to it, but that’s good to know
